The All Kenyan Moot Court Competition (AKMCC) is an annual National moot court competition hosted by the Kenyatta University School of Law (KUSOL) and involving all Law Schools in Kenya. The competition focuses mainly on matters of International law and is set to become one of the largest annual gatherings in the Kenyan legal calendar.

THE 11TH EDITION OF AKMCC WILL ADOPT A RELAXED APPROACH OF THE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS. HOWEVER, PARTICIPANTS AND ATTENDEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND ENSURE THAT THEY WASH THEIR HANDS REGULARLY OR USE HAND SANITISERS, IN ORDER TO KEEP COVID 19 AT BAY. THE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS OF THE COMPETITION SHALL BE CONDUCTED PHYSICALLY ON THE  22ND OF MARCH 2023.ON 23RD MARCH 2023, TEAMS PROCEEDING TO THE QUARTER-FINALS AND SEMIS WILL BE ANNOUNCED. THE QUARTER-FINALS AND SEMIS WILL BE DONE AT KENYATTA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW, PARKLANDS CAMPUS WHILE THE MOOT FINALS ARE EXPECTED TO BE CONDUCTED AT THE SUPREME COURT. THE COMMITTEE WILL MAKE ACCOMMODATION ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE TEAMS FROM OUTSIDE NAIROBI.

RECAP OF THE 10TH EDITION COMPETITION

The 10th Edition competition and conference, unlike the 9th edition, was held physically. The competition took place from the 16th to 18th March 2022. The theme was “ELECTORAL JUSTICE; BUILDING A SYSTEM THAT ADHERES TO THE RULE OF LAW.”

The competitions commenced with a two-day conference that was held on the 16TH and 17TH  of MARCH, 2022. The purpose of the conference was to have a group of stakeholders canvassing the theme for the participants to have a better understanding from the perspective of various government and non-governmental agencies.

The competitions followed on the 18TH and 19TH June 2021. There were participants from law schools around the country who proved their prowess in litigation as well as their knowledge of the law concerned.

The University of Nairobi was the winning team in the research category.

  • 27th JANUARY 2023: DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION
  • 3RD FEBRUARY 2023: SUBMISSION OF MEMORIALS AND RESEARCH PAPERS
  • 6th FEBRUARY- 8th March, 2023: MARKING MEMORIALS AND RESEARCH PAPERS
  • 15th March, 2023: PRELIMINARY ROUNDS FOR THE MOOT AND RESEARCH CATEGORIES
  • 16th March, 2023: RESULTS FOR TEAMS PROCEEDING INTO THE QUARTER FINALS ARE ANNOUNCED
  • 17th MARCH 2023: FINAL ROUNDS AND CLOSING CEREMONY.

Additionally, the resources provided were of high quality and there was a plentiful supply of materials such as copies of legal reports, case briefs, notebooks and pens, and t-shirts as well. Credit has to be given to the 10th AKMCC Steering Committee, which did exemplary work in ensuring that the 10th AKMCC was smoothly and effectively organized and well managed.
