Diploma in Security Science and Management

 

Introduction

The Programme consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable him/her to be certified as a security professional. A security professional is expected to carry his/her duties competently to guarantee the security of individuals and property while maintaining high standards and adherence to best practices.

Programme Objective

The objective of the Programme is to equip learners with the competencies required to perform security related tasks.

Justification/

Rationale

A study by the Department in 2019 found out that there is need to focus on building foundational skills for anticipating and mitigating modern challenges, including corporate fraud, organized crime, transnational crime, drug and substance abuse, and violent extremism, rather than solely understanding the causes and dynamics of crime.

Entry Requirements

a)     Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E.) with a minimum mean grade of C- (C minus).

b)    Level 5 Certificate in a related course.

c)     Mean grade of D (Plain) at K.C.S.E and a Certificate from Kenyatta University or any other recognized/ accredited institution.                                          

d)    Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA).
