The Department of Philosophy held two core activities with its postgraduate students on Tuesday 5th November, 2019 from 9.00am, in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS)Boardroom. First, was presentation of research proposals, one at doctoral and two at Master’s levels by:

  1. Florence Iminza (C82/26647/2013): “Women and the Promotion of Interfaith Dialogue: An Assessment of Christian – Muslim Dialogue in Nairobi and Kakamega Counties, Kenya”.
  2. Philemon Kipkemoi Rono (C50/CE/24376/2013): “History, Key Features and Leadership Structure of Repentance and Holiness Ministry”.
  3. Alice Chepngetich (C50/CE/KER/28223/2013): “The Africa Gospel Church Response to People with Visual Disabilities in Bureti Sub-County, Kericho County, Kenya”.

The students interacted with and immensely benefited from scholarly comments of discussants, the SHSS Representative Dr. Eunice Nyamasyo and departmental staff members. This enhance academic synergy enriched the students proposals with a view to improving them for submission to Graduate School in order for them to proceed to field research.

Second were presentations of concept papers, by two MA candidates:

  1. Benjamin Angadia Mweresa (C50/26957/2018): “Leadership experiences of Salvation Army ordained and Lay Women leaders in the Kenya West Territory”.
  2. William Kalungu Samson Reg. No. C50/CE/34880/2016: “Pastoral Interventions to dwindling fortunes of the boy child in selected mainstream churches in Kiambu County, Kenya”.

They were guided to sharpen their topics to be more researchable and assigned supervisors to academically journey with them into developing research proposals. Other students present were encouraged to follow suit, and accelerate in completing their studies.
