The department of Philosophy & Religious Studies is privileged to host, through some of the staff members, a European Union research project Virtual Exchanges in Religious Euro-African Dialogue (VEREAD). It comprises a consortium of universities from Europe (Poland, Italy, Netherlands and France) and Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe) to promote cooperation among students and staff in Africa and Europe; disseminating knowledge on religions and participatory learning and interactive exchanges of ideas among young scholars. The project has various related activities (see (https://www.veread.org/).
One of its activities is a course Contexts, Sources and Methods for the Critical-Historical Research and Discussion of Religion on offer, fully virtual, this semester, Thursdays 2:30pm to 4:30pm (EAT), beginning 5th September 2024 to go on for 13 weeks. The course will offer hands-on skills on how to study and conduct research in Religion in contemporary times. This course is highly recommended to us and we invite all to join. We are privileged to have it free, by virtue of our university being a partner in the VEREAD project.
A certificate of participation will be given to those who will do it to completion. Our MA and PhD postgraduate students will find it extremely useful in terms of content and skills even as they interact with university students and faculty in Religion from different parts of the world.
