PLOOn Friday 3rd March 2015, Prof PLO Lumumba was the guest speaker at Kenyatta University-City Campus, where he gave a stimulating lecture on the importance of integrity in the public sector in Kenya. The event was attended by masters’ students in the Department of Public policy and Administration and the academic staff. The event was also graced by the Director-City Campus, Prof Caroline Thoruwa.

Tracing the issues of integrity to the history of the struggle for liberation in the African continent and the work of heroes and heroines such as Nelson Mandela, Graca Machel Mandela, Julius Nyerere and Kwame Nkrumah, Prof Lumumba emphasized the importance of ideological focus as an inspiration to good governance and public integrity. He challenged Kenyan leaders to emulate the great sacrifice of our liberation heroes and heroines who shunned accumulation of material resources for public integrity and patriotism.

After the lecture, both staff and students enjoyed a cup of tea courtesy of the Vice Chancellor during which time they continued with interaction. The Department thanks the Prof Lumumba and other Guest Speakers for their support.
