CAREER PROFILE

An International Business Law Masters graduate with relevant experience in research, developed at the university and work experience with different universities, private law firms and the Kenyan judiciary. Passionate about laws governing the national and international market and the need for reforms aimed at increasing trade. Currently seeking to join one of the most dynamic organization whose mission and job specification will not only exploit my experience, knowledge and abilities but also strengthen my skills as well as field exposure in international business.

Sept 2014-September 2017: Consultant/ Law tutor at Gems Cambridge International School

  • I successfully developed the first law curriculum to be adopted by the institution and which is still used to date in line with the British Curriculum and in line with GEMS Study Policy.
  • I developed the note work and course content for the classes that I offered in various legal fields such as Contract Law, Social Foundations of Law and Tort Law.

  • I took Students for Judicial Visits to Milimani Law Courts where they got to interact with the judicial officers as well attend court sessions  as well as organized internal and external moot courts with other Kenya International schools offering Law as a unit.

Jan 2012 - July 2012:       Internship/ Pupilage at P.M Wamae & Co. Advocates (Kenya)

  • Improved my research and writing skills by analyzing numerous litigation cases and writing legal opinions on cases I attended in court.
  • Worked as a team by supporting the advocates in dealing with the numerous questions from Clients. This gave me a platform to demonstrate excellent customer care as well as good communication, organizational, research skills as well as work ethics and data protection.
  • Developed communication and organization skills as well as the ability to work under pressure whilst travelling to different Court’s registries where I carried out research on titles and also registration of titles.
  • Learnt to work under pressure and meet deadlines by filing documents at the Court’s registries as well as following up on court orders.

Oct 2010-Nov 2010   :      Eastern-bypass Estate Limited (Kenya)

  • Worked in a team of four under data entry department using spreadsheets on excel, an experience which developed my IT skills as well as team work.

April 2010-May 2010:            Nairobi Children's Court (Kenya)

  • Managed and assisted litigants at the court's offices by directing them to the different court rooms, in addition to advising them on the different court procedures under the supervision of a Magistrate thereby sharpening my communication and organization skills.
  • Assisted in the preparation of the daily cause list thereby acquiring excellent attention to detail.

Nov 2009-Dec 2009:  High Court (Traffic Division and City Court)

  • Carried out research work on the different court systems by attending court proceedings and talking to the different court officers. This enabled me to develop my research skills as well as work ethics and data protection.                                  

VOLUNTEERING PROJECTS

  • In March, 2014 I was assigned the role of a team leader for volunteers at the International Student (Non EU) Careers Fair in Birmingham organized by Career Interactive Ltd where I enhanced my leadership, team work and interpersonal skills.
  • In February, 2014 I helped organize the Kenya @ 50 Student’s Conference held at Coventry University where I developed further my team work, organizational skills.
  • In July 2011, I participated in providing legal aid service in Kenya, a programme that was organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs in conjunction with the Kenya School of law Legal aid department, to the residents of Garsen, Tana River County. This enhanced my ability to work as a team as well as sharpened my communication skills.
